False start to Action Research
Rubbish.
Now that I was comming to terms with my stage fright and doubts about the Action Research project, now that I had worked flat out weekend days and nights to get all the feedback forms and guidelines and ethics forms ready for the first session, now that I even remember everything I need to bring, I have 2 out of 3 cancellations.
LL is ill with flu.
JG is stuck in Sheffield in the middle of a snow storm.
Oh well. These things happen and that is why I recommend to students that 1/4 of their project management goes under the heading of contingency. My Action research will have to run over the summer term, which is just as well because I will be able to then propose a text myself (and try to work to the guidelines, with a particular problem I have experienced when writing my own proposal), something that occurred to me in the last week.
I talked to TC and explained to her that we will need to postpone her session to the 8th February. She is happy about it because people will have more time to prepare their images, which is the main aim of her session.
Thinking about it, it will also give me more time to plan. I gave TC the guidelines (as I should have done but didn't have time). She will now be able to read and digest them and I will be able to test if they really help her to run the session or not (rather than doing everything on the spot.
There's something to be said for slowness and snow. At least they both provide time to reflect.
