From my reflection on Peer Assessment
Both Rhed and Leonora had to read my profile twice to get a sense of what I was trying to write about. We identified that this was possibly due to the fact that the course is geared towards Undergraduate analysis and that Research Degree programmes are very different from these courses. 2 points came across very strongly: the need for me to do a PhD degree and the balance between reflection and academic writing.
Actions:
• Do a PhD degree
• Reflect on the process in relation to my teaching practice
• Ask students for feedback on my own proposal, funding application etc…
• Develop reflection on the ‘kitchen’ incident rather than just mentioning it, developing the concept of the adult position in relation to Research Students
• Balance the academic writing with more reflective paragraphs
• Develop the concept of ‘sense of no power’ hinted at in the profile
• Reflect on my teaching journal rather that just write aphorisms about what happened
